The Project: SoCalGas Pipeline Repair Project—Santa Barbara Mission

 

The Location:

Santa Barbara County, California

 

Project Aim:

This project was part of the Mission Service project at Santa Barbara Mission in Santa Barbara County. SoCalGas completed trench excavations using both hand tools and compressor-powered hydraulic hammers to expose existing gas pipelines. This was followed by gas line repair work and installation of new pipes.

 

Our Role:

NWB performed construction monitoring and cultural assessment for the project. NWB provided Native American monitor coordination and assisted SoCalGas in avoiding negative impacts to cultural resources.

The Project: Pipeline Support Installation

 

Location:

Santa Barbara County, California

 

Project Aim:

The Pipeline Support Installation project consisted of excavation of numerous holes at an extensive depth in order to install reinforced supports for the existing gas pipeline.

 

Our Role:

NWB provided SoCalGas with archaeological monitoring and cultural assessment for the Line 247, 150, and 118 Pipeline Support projects. The purpose of monitoring was to assist SoCalGas in avoiding impacts to cultural resources during ground-disturbing activities. NWB provided Native American Monitor coordination, and a Native American Monitor was present for the duration of construction activities.

The Project: Ortega Road Anomaly

 

The Location:

Santa Barbara County, California

 

Project Aim:

Project work included trench excavation  to expose a gas pipeline for repairs. Excavation was completed using hand tools, air-powered jackhammers, and a backhoe.

 

Our Role:

NWB performed construction monitoring and cultural assessment for the project to assist SoCalGas in avoiding impacts to cultural resources. NWB provided Native American Monitor coordination, and a Native American Monitor was present for the duration of construction activities.

The Project: SoCalGas Avenue E Project

 

The Location:

Yucaipa, San Bernardino County, California

 

Project Aim:

The project consisted of trench excavation, using hand shovels, air-powered jack-hammers, and a backhoe, for the installation of a new gas pipeline.

 

Our Role:

NWB performed construction monitoring and cultural assessment to assist SoCalGas in avoiding impacts to cultural resources during ground-disturbing activities. NWB also provided Native American Monitor coordination, and a Native American Monitor was present for the duration of the construction activities.

Ongoing Project: Pipeline 2000 Emergency Leaks Inspection and Repair

 

The Location:

Desert Center, San Bernardino County, California

 

Project Aim:

The project consists of gas line inspection and repair, including trench excavation to expose the pipeline, performed by CAT excavator, front-end loader, water truck for dust control, and hand tools.

 

Our Role:

NWB performs construction monitoring and cultural assessement to assist SoCalGas in avoiding impacts to cultural resources in the project area during ground-disturbing activities.

Ongoing Project: Pipeline 3000 Emergency Leaks Inspection and Repair

 

The Location:

Needles, San Bernardino County, California

 

Project Aim:

The project consists of trench excavation at multiple work sites to expose a gas pipeline for inspection and repair. The excavation is performed by a CAT excavator, front-end loader, water truck for dust control, and hand tools.

 

Our Role:

NWB performs construction monitoring and cultural assessment to assist SoCalGas in avoiding impacts to cultural resources in the project area during ground-disturbing activities.
